Welcome to SongHarper Music Circles!
November 21st: Food Shelter Fundraiser
“Milk Drum Circle” 5:30-6:30 pm
Back in the day, a milkman delivered milk in a jug called a ‘milk drum’. The “Milk Drum Circle” is a play on words with the intent to take a collection to supply perishable items such as milk, orange juice, and baby formula to the local food shelter! This community-drumming event is a wholesome, family friendly way to create music with people of all ability levels. Come join us at this free event and make music in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Professional Drum Circle Facilitator and music educator, Justin Harper, will host the event.
Location: First Baptist Church of Shelby, NC 5:30-6:30pm
We will be in the gym, which is located on the corner of North Washington Street and Sumpter Street. The parking lot is located across from the entrance. Look for the flagpole to enter the double doors to the gym. Chairs will be provided; some loaner drum will be available.
Please bring some $$ for our ‘love offering’ that will be collected to support the ongoing weekly monetary need for milk, baby formula, orange juice, etc. at our local food bank in Cleveland County. Not only will drumming at this event help build our community, but it also promotes good physical health and well-being. Studies show that group drumming has positive effects on the body by lowering levels of stress hormones, while at the same time, boosting levels of specialized white blood cells.
